Notes

Trangress the mind > Grave birthing? Grave birthing is instant speed which allows me to hold up counter/removal/still do something. It cantrips, which makes the deck smaller functionally. It also adds another guy, which is relevant to a critical mass approach, and also jumps the curve, which so far has only mattered when I was screwed on mana. Otherwise I have used the mana to make the spell functionally a 2 mana cantrip that gives me that often needed exile. Indeed, exile and cantrip are the most relevant parts of the card, and in that order.

Trangress the mind does not cantrip: fact. It does exile, and better yet it is proactive, dealing with pesky gideon's, rhino's, deathmist raptors preemptively. This is a great benefit when I'm playing control, as transgress on 2 is great, and on five with removal back up. It also can provide overhead with an aggressive strategy. It also adds the added dimension of hand control and resource exchange, which the deck seems possible to recover from with all the two for ones, and card draw off the 2 drop. If it whiffs though, which it definitely can, that is a severe waste of a card. It also can be very bad late game depending on the matchup. With 2-4 added discard spells from the side though, really adds the grind element.

Should try both, then base on the metagame.

After a little metagame analysis, per usual my strategy seems slow, but still interesting. I'm thinking of going four color and running red to be able add more pressure, like touch of the void and kolaghan's command over complete disregard and grave birthing. I think damage is ultimately more versatile as a control measure and aggressive element. Drana adds some great synergy and impact to the deck. Another question is wild slash main? Is utter end better only in the board? Do I have room for Abzan falconer, foundry of the consuls, and artificer's epiphany? Is alligned hedron network main deckable, or an amazing answer to any strategies going big from the side? How important is instant speed? Can I make harsh sustenance work (consistently 3-3 or 3-4)? What is the optimal manabase, and how many colorless lands do I get?
