Notes

Originally based on an Emma Handy list.
I've tested this deck a few times at tournaments, and am getting increasingly familiar with it's play, and increasing success. My failure so far is too little time to tune before a tournament, and deck shuffling (not really though). The sideboard threat plan is really fun! I tried approach of the second sun main and it was really good. Gaining 7 is great on it's own, and a real form of inevitability is game winning:) Get's around the decks that can deal with my torrential/fumarole default. The spread of spells and planes walkers is very versatile, covers a lot of angles. Fixing and cycling reduce variance and promote efficency, and it's easy to make small adjustments to get a few points of win percentage while still have a very generic ability to answer anything. I thought about harsh mentor for marvel decks, still could be good enough. Gideon was awesome to, did everything from clocking, providing a must answer emblem that if I had another in the list, could have saved me, checked garbage so I could deploy a counter, and broke a "shield" on several bristling hydra so I could respond with removal after they activated with energy.

It just occurred to me that Glory-bound initiate does everything the deck wants as a sideboard threat. Like the esper control deck in modern, the lifegain is back-breaking, and I get the push/sprays out post board. Even pairs well with Avacyn! I can clock and close in a hurry. Similarly, i wonder if I have enough planeswalkers for heart of kirran to be good. Probably not.

Now with marvel gone I can forgo summary dismissial, prehaps to split with disallow. Control goes up, and jeskai is better then U/R for the sideboard plan and general answers. I will need to make adjustments for the meta of course. Likely a sweltering suns main or two. Chandra, Flamecaller is questionable, but can still be very good. Currently grixis is tempting for transgress and kalitas, but on I think those pale to the white options. Nahiri/cast out are better than transgress I think, and Kalitas is very good, but comparable to glory-bound and avacyn. The real question is if the new Nicol bolas will tip the favor towards grixis. My inclination is maybe... I think Nicol bolas is comparable to approach of the second sun. Neither are likely to resolve in the mirror, but sphinx protects approach, and bolas is much slower than avacyn. We will see!
