Deck Name: Eternal Flicker
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Format: Legacy
Deck Type: Mechanic-Based (Flicker/ETB Control)
Colors: White-Blue (Azorius)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description

Eternal Flicker is a mechanic-based control deck that thrives on Flicker effects and Enter the Battlefield (ETB) value generation. By continuously exiling and returning creatures, this deck builds incremental advantage while controlling the board through recursion, card draw, and removal.

Using creatures like Elite Guardmage, Charming Prince, and Ranar, the Ever-Watchful, you gain life, draw cards, and generate tokens. Soulherder and Thassa, Deep-Dwelling create a repeating loop of ETB triggers, making every turn an opportunity to improve your board state.

With Brago, King Eternal, you can reset nonland permanents and abuse effects like Reality Acid for repeatable removal. Meanwhile, planeswalkers like Teferi, Time Raveler and spells like Time Wipe allow for a flexible and resilient game plan.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Play

Early Game:
Use Omen of the Sea for card filtering and mana fixing.
Deploy Charming Prince or Elite Guardmage for draw and life gain.
Control early threats with Reality Acid and Teferi, Time Raveler.

Mid-Game:
Establish Soulherder or Thassa, Deep-Dwelling to start flickering creatures.
Use Brago, King Eternal to gain extra triggers and reset enchantments like Reality Acid.
Stabilize against aggressive opponents with Time Wipe and Ondu Inversion.

Late Game:
Lock down the board with Sun Titan, repeatedly returning important permanents.
Utilize Elspeth Conquers Death for recursion and disruption.
Maintain control by flickering Peacekeeper to keep opponents’ threats at bay.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How the Flicker Mechanic Works

Generating Continuous Value:
Soulherder and Thassa, Deep-Dwelling flicker creatures each turn for repeated ETB effects.
Ephemerate provides instant-speed flickering and card advantage with rebound.
Brago, King Eternal can reset multiple nonland permanents on attack, enabling infinite utility.

Board Control and Recursion:
Reality Acid removes any permanent by repeatedly flickering it.
Sun Titan recovers fallen creatures and key enchantments.
Elspeth Conquers Death disrupts opponents while reviving late-game threats.

By cycling creatures in and out of play, you ensure a constantly evolving board presence while keeping opponents locked in a war of attrition.

Sideboard Strategy

Against Aggro Decks:
Settle the Wreckage – Punishes overextended aggressive strategies.
Timely Reinforcements – Provides life gain and blockers for early survival.

Against Control Decks:
Dovin’s Veto – Uncounterable answer to critical control spells.
Mystical Dispute – Cheap and effective counter against blue-heavy strategies.

Against Combo Decks:
Pithing Needle – Shuts down planeswalkers and activated abilities.
Containment Priest – Prevents unfair reanimation and cheat-into-play effects.

Against Graveyard and Recursion Strategies:
Rest in Peace – Completely nullifies graveyard-based decks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill Level and Playability

Eternal Flicker is ideal for players who enjoy incremental advantage, board control, and flexible gameplay. The deck rewards careful sequencing and flicker timing, making it both engaging and rewarding.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate – Advanced
Playstyle: Board control and value-based recursion
Best For: Multiplayer and casual formats
