Notes

Matt Nass, 9/19/19

This deck often kills the turn it casts Urza, as your free artifacts turn into Moxes that can be bounced with Outcome, just like in the Vintage version. Eventually, you make tons of Constructs, Servos, and Thopters, then cast a Nexus of Fate to attack for lethal. Engineered Explosives can handle any Ensnaring Bridges or other problem permanents.
The key to this deck’s success is how well it performs without Urza. Saheeli and Sai offer more ways to get value from the cheap artifacts, and playing one of those on turn 2 or 3 and following up by Outcoming all of your zeros is not easy for most decks to beat. Because of the deck’s threat density, it has a surprisingly strong matchup against more disruptive fair decks like Jund.
I’m not sure it’s better than Saheeli and Sai, but I may look to take another piece out of the Vintage playbook and try Monastery Mentor. It’s a little more vulnerable than the other token makers, but it also hits a lot harder due to prowess.
Throne of Eldraine also offers a big card for this deck. Emry looks like the perfect fit, as it will regularly cost just one mana, and can offer a ton of card advantage.
