So, Ran this at the PTQ yesterday (the version on my profile - ajani + 4th voice). Did good, died to jund horribly (as almost all decks do). Decent deck but there's better options out there, imo.

Yeah I've been having much more success with my mid-range Prime Speaker build. I moved away from this because it's kind of all-in, you either draw the right opening hand and your opponent doesn't or you lose, no real decision tree to play around anything (unless you count "hang onto that last Loxodon Smiter in case of a wrath).
      • Chris O'Neal | 02-Jun-2013 17:11
Very true. I really enjoy my prime speaker build. I'm going back to USA though. I like having the ability / burden of winning or losing the game based on my decisions. Forces me to be a better player more so than PSB. It is *very* enjoyable, though, with PSB to just shit on everything (and pray I can counter the sire from jund).

Rapid Hybridization has been rapidly (>.>) gaining more respect from me. It's so much fun to use on a Voice or on the Geist angel token, but at the same time it's amazing removal. One weakness my build has is Olivia Voldaren....but I just turn her into a 3/3 frogzard (greatest token ever printed, except maybe squirrel) and my huge creatures give less of a shit than a honey badger.

In other news, Progenitor Mimic copying Thragtusk is just mean.

The version I ran was pre GTC and had silverblade in there. Was absolutely brutal :D
  • Chris O'Neal | 17-May-2013 15:53
Ohh, Rootbound Defense. You need this card in the board imho. Survive wrath of god
    • Scott | 17-May-2013 15:54
Heh, I actually have that in the actual deck but apparently forgot to make the change on here. I only updated the main becuase goddamn Ajani is brutal when he comes down and gives my suited up Geist double strike.
  • Chris O'Neal | 17-May-2013 15:52
So, I've played this deck a metric ton. Its fun as hell :D
Strongly considering going back to it, since USA Flash is dead in the current meta :)

The only thing I don't like about it is that there seems to be only ONE good way to construct it at the moment and I hate appearing to netdeck. I had some other stuff in here, but Voice of Resurgence was too good to leave out. That being said, if the deck makes my opponent angry enough to start accusing me of netdecking, then I have done my job properly.
      • Chris O'Neal | 17-May-2013 16:02
Yeah, the recent net list didn't run ajani. In standard its hard not to netdeck some, plus theres so little room for innovation in the format. Modern is a bit different. Fortunately, most people who netdeck are fucking donkeys and just die by being bad players. Sunday at our local turny, there was a dude who straight up bought the entire deck friday, and he just died horribly. How it goes ^_^
        • Scott | 17-May-2013 16:05
That is true, I love watching players who clearly just bought their deck two days ago and have no idea how to run it flail around. It's also why I love decks like Pod and Junk Rites, because there IS a bit more flexibility and ability to innovate. RIght now most of the other decks are just straight up aggro, and there's no subtlety to constructing that sort of deck, as evidenced above. But it is a nice change to have a beatdown deck...
          • Chris O'Neal | 17-May-2013 16:06
Yup. Right now I'm expecting to see a ton of slime resto decks this weekend at states. NOT looking forward to it, either... -_- Right now I'm on prime speaker bant, simply because ive not decided what I want to play. Highly considering rolling U/G Delver for states and blowing everyone out with super durdle powers, lol.
            • Scott | 17-May-2013 16:08
I'm puzzling over what to play for states myself. I JUST retooled my rites deck to run slimes in the main, along with Sin Collector and upped my reso count to the full 4 because of that. But now I just finished making this deck, which is kind of flying under the radar, at least this week.
              • Chris O'Neal | 17-May-2013 16:19
Nope. This deck isn't under the radar. Price spike of 50% in voice goes to show that imho. Plus Voice is in modern now (and probably will be legacy). If I were you, I'd run rites. Slime bitches right out of the game. I'd also strongly encourage you to ditch the craterhoofs in your rites deck, and probably make room for a 3rd farseek, perhaps 4th. But that's just my opinion. I prefer the farseek route to the massive manadork route, since every aggro deck is running board wipes like electrikery and such.

This is certainly very strong, and it'll force awkward changes back to esper (which is completely under the radar right now) making them run devour fleshes etc.
                • Scott | 17-May-2013 16:36
That's kind of why I was tempted to run it and said it was under the radar, there isn't as much focused hate to bypass the hexproof yet to make it totally unplayable.

I like Craterhoof, though, and he's still doing consistently well, particularly now that I have Somberwald Sage in the main. If I run hoof I want massive mana dorks for his ETB. I've honestly never seen a Rites deck run Farseek, so I have no idea how that would play. Maybe I'll test that tonight and see if I make a last minute change, but I'm very reluctant to make any more changes than I have.
                  • Chris O'Neal | 17-May-2013 17:39
Hey man, if your meta doesn't hate it out, then run it :D Mine here is just different. We have awkward 4 color value creature decks that destroy shit, etc. Makes for some weird lines
                    • Scott | 17-May-2013 18:20
Yeah it seems to work in my local meta, I've taken down another 3 saturday standards in a row with it >.>

I'm going to do a lot more testing tonight though since I've altered my build dramatically with the more ramp-y strategy. It seems to be working, but I know some friends with stuff like Naya Blitz (i.e. my worst matchup) to test against and see if I'm right.
                      • Chris O'Neal | 17-May-2013 20:35
Naya Blitz and RDW or R/G Race are the counters to the deck. Can't win every matchup =P Good luck with it!
  • Scott | 17-May-2013 01:00
Added 3x Voice of Resurgence for the Grand Abolisher effect primarily, and 1x Ajani
  • Scott | 11-May-2013 08:43
Bruna seems to only work in specific matchups, so I moved her to the sideboard as she is a very nice way to get that last little bit of damage in if a creature covered in enchantments dies....she gets all of that back from the graveyard and flies over for the kill.

Added curiosity instead. The biggest issue I was having was totally running out of gas or not drawing a second creature fast enough to dodge an edict effect. Curiosity buffs Ethereal Armor while giving me an extra card per turn (guaranteed if I can get a Stalker to put it on).
