Notes

Sub-Theme: Golems

Red and White are only the outer shell.  Once your splicers start running and you're producing golems at will with your foundry or forge you will dominate the opponent.  And when all else fails, use the father of machines to exile your most powerful creatures to start a new game, one your enemies will bow down before.

So I play tested this deck against my Rubinia control deck and it went 2-1.  Not too shabby considering that I think my Rubinia deck is the better of the two.

I have to state that the first game, Rubinia never showed due to the lack of white mana, leaving Jor to ramp up nicely, gain metal craft and continue to pummel Rubinia with 8 first strike damage every turn, eventually winning by commander tap out.

The second Rubinia bounced back with an easy win, stealing Jor himself and leaving Jor's old team mates with no defense as he trounced them in his pursuaded mindset.

Last game was quite drawn out, with Jor first on the field.  Rubinia quickly arrived to once again sway the warrior but was quickly responded to with a Red Sun face blast, banashing her back to her penalty box.  Jor manage to amass a metal crafted army of small myrs, but was Arrested before he could do much damage himself.  It was the timely arrival of Karn, who, without much in my hand to exile, turned his sites on Rubinia's cataloged spells.  She did her best by giving up sorceries that would do the silver golem no good should the game restart.  Jor's legion however, had suffered no damage thus far and Rubinia was whithering under the assult of prototype portal pumping out bladed pinions for all the lowly 1/1s to share, gaining +3 from Jor, Karn was content to steal Rubinia's arcane knowledge, making sure that she would dare not show herself again, lest she be exiled. Her forces crumbled under the flying stings of the tiny artifacts.

I won't deny that there was some luck in the turn out, but as we have seen, sometimes that is all you need.  Now all I need is some other opponents...

OK so my fling combo doesnt work, because Fling does not actually target the creature.  Damn would have been nice.  Will have to find another way to do it.

Hm.  That's depressing.  No Artillerize, either, I suppose.  You could polymorph them, though.  That could be interesting.

I can't help but think this deck would be a great place to showcase the
Precursor Golem/Fling combination, if only because it's got the golem
focus and the right colors in play.  Add Conversion Chamber, Titan Forge, and Golem Artisan and you'll really be moving.  Other than that, seems a bit high-cost.  Maybe a Mycosynth Wellspring to move things along a little?  Geosurge?  Semblance Anvil?  Or you could pick up some of the spiffier little white metalcraft creatures like Auriok Edgewright and Ardent Recruit.

I haven't gotten a chance to play test this deck, as it seems that I'm the only person that seems interested in Commander.  That aside, here are my thoughts:

Precursor would be cool and I may just have one copy in a starter deck I have.  My only caution about the fling combo is the chance of having both with my luck is slim.  For a 9 point attack (more if I have my commander ramped up) would be nice, but unreliable.

Conversion chamber was passed on simply because most of my artifacts shouldn't end up in the graveyard.  Titan Forge is in, just didn't get a chance to update.  Golem Artisan is a great add if I can hit most of my artifact creatures.  Again play test will determine how often I will be using them.  I try and keep the deck split at 33%.

As far as cost, I should be able to cast everything I need by turn 7 at the latest.  With 33 land, a few mana producers and some decent control I've not had trouble with mana cost on my other decks.  Thats why I like the Commander format, as it lends itself to slower games.  The huge dudes at the end are gimics to cheat out using Boldwyr or Karn.  If I end up casting those, the game is really stretching and they will finish up.

I admit this isn't my best one, but I like its feel.  Time will see how much more it needs tweeked.
